As an active educational and performing ensemble, Sinfonia equips aspiring string players with the skills and confidence to advance through the ranks of the prestigious EYO. Rehearsing in the historic and inspiring Music Center at Temple Beth Israel in downtown Gadsden, the Sinfonia provides a unique space where creativity thrives, friendships form, and young talents blossom. Few people knew John Lennon as intimately as May Pang. Pang was Lennon’s lover during the infamous “Lost Weekend” which lasted 18 months during late 1973 through 1975. During this highly creative time for Lennon, Pang took candid photos of Lennon in a comfortable, relaxed environment. A collection of these private photographs will be on display and available for purchase at Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment, 2211 Seminole Drive SW, Huntsville, AL., on Thursday, May 29 through Saturday, May 31. Admission to the exhibit is free to the public. All works are available to purchase - See John Lennon as May saw him!

The Haunted Book Shop proudly presents a Carolyn Haines launch party on May 29. This event is a must-attend for fans of mystery, Southern wit, and all who adore Haines's beloved character, Sarah Booth Delaney and the Sarah Booth Delaney Mysteries series. Godspell opens May 22 at Chickasaw Civic Theatre
Exuberant, thoughtful, funny, sad, troubling and inspiring — it’s Godspell, opening May 22 at Chickasaw Civic Theatre.
Through a series of parables, told in an anonymous alleyway sometime about now, the story presents the Gospel of Matthew in song, dance and story.
Music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz draw melodies and words from traditional hymns, but present them in a whole new way. The book, by John-Michael Tebelak, was new and surprising when it appeared in the early 1970s. Today it’s a classic.
Guest director James Boykin is bringing the show to the Chickasaw stage, enjoying the opportunity to offer “a fresh take on an already incredible classic.”
Curt Lilley and Brik Finley lead the cast, with Lilley appearing as Jesus and Finley as Judas and John the Baptist.
Brin Allen, Marlee Boykin, Alana Carson, DJ Cobb, Katarina DeMoncrieff, SallyDodson, Kaydence Matthews, Tessa Moody, Miley Montgomery, Elle Partridge, Daniel Pocase and Will Spiers round out the cast.
Godspell will be presented for two four-day weekends, opening Thursday, May 22, and closing Sunday, June 1. Shows are at 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and at 2:30 p.m. Sundays.

For students aged 6-9 who have little or no experience with music and may be wondering which instrument is right for them, Mason Music offers a half-day music camp this summer where campers are given the opportunity to sing and play the guitar, piano, drums, and ukulele. Campers will get hands-on experience with real instruments while learning foundational music theory concepts, making crafts, and playing games. The goal of this week is for students to explore several instruments and learn general music concepts like pitch and rhythm, all while having a lot of fun! Recommendations will be sent home for which instrument(s) each student shows the most aptitude with so you don’t have to guess which instrument to start them on for lessons.

These camps give young artists ample time to dive into their projects, make friends, and create finished pieces of work for the end-of-summer student and teaching artist exhibition. All camps are taught by practicing artists in Space One Eleven’s professional art studios.
